Build Your Wall
© Mark Bishop Evans
In a world that’s filled with sorrow, tragedy and strife.
So many people come here just to find a better life
Your fathers came before you and they settled all around,
but now you want build a wall to keep other people out
So who will work your factories, and who’s gonna work your fields,
and who’ll be working all jobs that don’t have much appeal
So who will pick the berries and other things you crave
when you take away their children and put them in a cage
Chorus
So go and build your wall of evil. Build your wall of hate.
You can build any kind of wall you want if it makes you think your great
But this thing I will tell you and so listen to the sound,
any kind of wall you build, we’ll come and tear it down
Now the rich men in their towers like kings upon their thrones.
Perceive the world around them as something that they own
They own the politicians, police they also own.
They want to own the garden where the future will be sown
They want to own the women to do with as they please.
They want to own the people working in their factories
They say there is no money the poor to house and feed,
but what there’s not enough of is a way to sate their greed.
Chorus
Bridge
We’re looking to a future where all the walls are gone,
were everyone is welcome to come and sing along
Where people come together from every clan and tribe
to build a bridge of freedom and peacefully reside
I’m gonna bring along my hammer and bring along my sledge
we’re going after every wall with a chisel and a wedge
And when the walls are leveled and we’ve got something new.
I think that you should know we might be coming after you.
Chorus
